Chicory - forcing
Sow seeds in May in rows 40-50 cm apart. Thin the plants later to a distance of 12 cm. Lift roots in November and cut the leaves back to about 2.5 cm. Pack the roots upright in a box with sand and compost and cover to exclude all light, keep in a warm place. Cut the chicons when they are 13-20 cm. Seed rate: 10-20 g/100m². 1000 seeds= ~1.3 g.
